Providing attorneys with innovative and highly efficient software to increase the quality of their services is the main mission TrialPrep, LLC sets out to achieve through its Direct/Cross-Examination Preparation Software. Since our inception in 2005, TrialPrep, LLC has implemented a vigorous and ambitious strategy focusing on Marketing and Innovation to ensure we meet our client’s needs.
TrialPrep, LLC was founded in 2005 by Laurence Steffan, a trial attorney who needed a simple and easy way to extract specific witness trial questions from a deposition transcript. As every attorney knows, trial question preparation can be a highly manual, labor intensive, and time consuming process. Our software, Depo© by TrialPrep, LLC, was developed to automate and streamline the preparation of direct or cross-examination questions, thereby substantially reducing the inefficiencies, inaccuracies and time associated with trial book preparation.
Depo© is a relatively simple yet very robust program. We estimate that by using Depo©, attorneys can save up to $26,000 annually (assuming four trials per year) and reduce the time spent on trial book development by 80%. There is no other product like Depo© that allows the user to export questions, answers, page, and line numbers of testimony to other software programs like Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
Are you a solo practitioner or small firm attorney looking for technology guidance?
TrialPrep legal software is designed with you in mind, featuring law office software that support the direct/cross examination task, compiled in one place for easy use.
With TrialPrep software, legal professionals will improve the efficiency and profitability of their firms and get the most out of the time they spend practicing law.
Those firms that summarize depositions will find that Depo© is perfect for that task. All the staff person has to do is click on the questions they would otherwise have to type out. When the work is done, they print out the question, answer and page and line numbers with no typing and therefore, no mistakes.
Laurence Steffan has been a member of the California Bar and a trial attorney for over 30 years. In preparing for trial, Laurence would load a copy of the witness’ pretrial testimony into a program, that at the time, was called E-Transcript Binder. Laurence would copy and paste the questions he wanted to ask the witness again at trial, along with the answer, into WordPerfect.
The problem was that the copy command would take the pleading line numbers with it, the margins and line spacing would be all wrong and the action did not copy the page and line number where the question and answer could be found in the official transcript.
Laurence felt it should be very simple to create a program that would do everything he wanted, i.e., copy the question and answer and paste them into Word or WordPerfect along with the page and line numbers, the margins and line spacing desired by the user, and omit the pleading numbers, with just a mouse click.
He also thought the concept was so simple that such a program would be on the market “any day.” After waiting 15 years for someone to sell him the program, to no avail, he decided to develop it himself.
Depo© is a product of Laurence’s imagination and concept, and the ingenious programming skills of his partner, Patrick Brombach. After a year in development (by other software engineers), Version One was released. With the expert help of Patrick, Version 2 (with substantial improvements) was released a year later. Depo© has been on the market now for three years. Depo© has no competition as no other product does all that Depo© does. Depo© is copyrighted and its patent is pending.
